Now I have to say I like the manager's attitude. While waiting for a lane to open up, bowlers were warned over the PA that all complaints regarding the music selections will be accepted and completely ignored. Good attitude, painful policy when "Heart of Glass" starts playing, but patronizing the darkly surly has its occasional drawback. Upon arriving at our lane, we were concerned when we discovered that our ball return had apparently been spray painted and hit by a bus. Nonetheless, it served us fairly reliably and provided an unusual view of the ball emerging from the floor. The décor was overall disinteresting with it's typical AMF décor, though floor color scheme and upper levels clashed painfully. Walls and pin sweepers were lacking advertising adornment, though there was a rather dingy american flag beside our lane. Anti-government political statement or plain old dirt? I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and go with the former, but alas, I feel that would be too generous.
Should we be insulted that AMF underestimates its patron's popularity and only offers 2.5 seats per lane? And how many times do I have to say this: we will tolerate no other sports in our bowling centers. Honestly, they not only had football of all things playing in the bar, but also basketball shirts for sale in the pro shop. I don't see the NBA selling fingerless gloves and rosin bags at their games. But as I have said (repeatedly. Brunswick, Dexter, are you listening?), I can be bought, and several goth points were regained for offering some of the cheapest bowling rates in town on Sunday mornings, so throw on your hooded black cloak and brave the sun of the seventh day.
